Your privacy is of great importance to us. We, therefore, comply with the privacy act. This means that your information is safe with us and that we always use it properly. In this privacy statement, we explain what we do with the information we learn about you on our website. Below this statement, there is also an explanation of how SMK deals with the placement of cookies and a disclaimer.
SMK News
By registering to receive SMK news items, you agree to the use of your personal data for periodic mailings.
Personal data
Regarding your data, you have the right to inspect your personal data and receive a copy thereof. In addition, you have the right to have your personal data corrected if it is incorrect and supplemented if it is incomplete. Finally, you may request that your personal data be deleted and this will be honored in the following cases:
- The data is no longer needed for the purposes for which it was collected or processed;
- You withdraw your consent;
- You have successfully objected to the processing because the personal data has been processed unlawfully or to comply with a legal obligation.
Transferability of data
You have the right to have your data transferred. This allows you to request and receive a copy of your personal data that is usable, for example, with another service provider. The data will be provided in a structured, common and machine-readable form. For example, an Excel file or a CSV file. This right only applies if the processing of the data is based on consent or a contract and if the processing is carried out using automated procedures.
Restriction of processing
You have the right to request and obtain the restriction of processing in several specific cases:
- During the period of contesting the accuracy of personal data and its verification, if the processing has been found to be unlawful but you still do not want the data to be erased;
- If SMK no longer needs the data but you still need the data for a legal claim and if you have objected to the processing and are still waiting for the answer to the objection.
- You request, as it were, that the personal data be marked (temporarily locked) with the aim of limiting processing in the future.
Objection to processing
You always have the right to object on grounds relating to your specific situation:
- The processing of your personal data on the basis of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority granted to SMK, and if the processing is necessary for the purposes of protecting the legitimate interests of SMK or a third party, where your interests are overridden;
- If your personal data are processed for the purpose of direct marketing, you may also always object to this processing as well as to profiling related to direct marketing.
If you wish to exercise any of your rights, please do so as follows. You can send your request by e-mail to smk@smk.nl, or you can send a request by post to SMK, Bezuidenhoutseweg 105, 2594 AC The Hague.
Please always specify in your request what kind of request it is: “access request”, “rectification request”, etc. and state your name, address and telephone number. To verify your request, we will send you an e-mail or letter to the (e-mail) address you provided to SMK, inviting you to confirm your request. You will receive a response within 28 days of receiving the request.
Data from certificate holders
Data from certificate holders is only used anonymously by SMK for the evaluation of the existing criteria and communication about achievements. Data that can be traced back to individual company level is neither used by SMK for public purposes, nor made public.
Cookie policy
The first time you visit one of SMK’s websites you will be asked to accept cookies. By clicking ‘Akkoord’ (Approved) you agree to these cookies being placed.
Cookies are small files that are placed on your equipment, for example on a computer, phone or tablet, when using SMK websites. With cookies information can be collected or stored about the website visit or about your device use. Cookies also make the SMK websites work properly, so you can stay logged in for example.
Google Analytics
The SMK websites place cookies from the American company Google. This cookie is a necessary part of the ‘Analytics’ service. We use this service to track how visitors use the website and based on this information to improve the website for users. Google may provide this information to third parties if Google is legally required to do so, or to the extent that third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. SMK has no influence on this.
We have not allowed Google to use the information obtained for other Google services or benchmarking. The information that Google collects is anonymized as much as possible. The IP address will not be provided.
The information is stored by Google on servers in the United States and elsewhere. Google adheres to the Safe Harbor Principles and is affiliated with the Safe Harbor program of the U.S. Department of Commerce. All SMK websites include buttons to promote or share pages on the social networks LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. These social media icons work with cookies from third parties (such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter). However, these cookies are only placed when you click on these links.
Deleting and enabling/disabling cookies
The Dutch Consumers’ Association provides good information on its website about how cookies can be removed in Internet Explorer, Edge, Firefox, Chrome, and Safari (MacOS). Also gives this website information on how cookies can be automatically deleted when you close a browser.
